Early Prototype and Story

The original story for this adventure was going to feature Rebecca Chambers as a teacher who travels through the deserts of Egypt, accompanying a group of students from her university. While descending into a newly discovered underground tomb, an unknown group with Umbrella patches raid the tomb in search of something very important.
In an attempt to protect her students, Rebecca fights back and during the scuffle, the only exit is destroyed, trapping everyone underground.
Rebecca and everyone else had to find a common ground, a common language and not only get to the surface, but also uncover the secret of the underground city and the biological threat that it had been hiding for many centuries...

I did several "concepts" of this story and its characters, but decided to scrap it for a better future (if there's one). This early prototype is more personal and explores different (sometimes very dark) themes drawing inspiration from Silent Hill (PS1 game), Cube (1997 movie), Oculus (2013) and Ritual (horror novel by Adam Nevill). It's still a survival horror story about bioweapons and personal drama, but with a fresh approach to its key elements (more akin to Resident Evil 7 in that regard).

If the current Resident Evil RELICT is going to be successful as a fan project and a visual novel overall, this concept could become a full-fledged Resident Evil RPG as I think it's more suited for the scrapped ideas and characters' interactions.

Rebecca was going to wear a green jacket and some scarf during her adventure. "Survival" was the main focus of each mechanic. The main villain was a less explored canon character from the games not ever shown on screen. Villain's design and personality was inspired by Jacqueline Natla (from Tomb Raider series). I'm no artist so I couldn't draw characters for this story, so the idea was scrapped altogether because of it.

That's all. Here's Rebecca's sprite concept in her green jacket.
